Editorial policy
The rules that keep TechKea’s verdicts independent, and what we do when money, ownership or mistakes are involved.
- Updated
TechKea’s verdicts are not for sale. Nobody can pay for a review, a score, a ranking or a place on a list, and the companies that make the tools we cover get no say in what we publish. This page sets out the rules we work by.
Independence
- No paid reviews or paid scores. We don’t accept payment, gifts or favors in exchange for coverage, a better score or a higher ranking.
- Vendors never see, approve or pay for reviews. No vendor sees or edits a review, comparison or best picks page before it’s published. We may ask a vendor to confirm a fact, such as a price or a plan limit, but the verdict stays ours.
- Commissions don’t count. Affiliate commission rates never influence what we cover, how we score it or where it ranks. Our affiliate disclosure explains how those links work.
- Free accounts are disclosed. Free vendor accounts are allowed for testing and always disclosed: if a vendor gives us a free or extended account, the review says so.
Sponsored content
We don’t publish sponsored content today. Reviews, comparisons and best picks pages will never be sponsored. If we ever publish a sponsored guide, it will be labeled “Sponsored” at the top of the page and on every link to it, kept separate from our reviews, and it will never include a score or a ranking.
Ownership
If TechKea’s owner or Aprici Inc. owns a product we cover, or a company connected to them makes it, we disclose that prominently at the top of the page, directly under the byline.
We don’t score those products or rank them against competitors. They can’t be named the winner of a comparison or appear as a pick on a best picks page. We may still mention them where they’re genuinely relevant, so you know they exist, always with the disclosure attached.
Testing and evidence
The TechKea team writes and edits TechKea and does the hands-on testing. Hands-on observations, screenshots and walkthrough videos come only from our team’s own use of a tool.
We never invent test results, timings, quotes or user numbers, and we never use AI-generated images or mockups of real software. If we haven’t tested something, we say so. Every review is scored with the same rubric, explained in How we test, and every review says who should skip the tool.
Prices and facts
Prices, plans and trial terms come from each vendor’s official pricing page and are checked every time a page is published or updated. Every pricing table shows the month prices were last checked.
Prices are listed in the vendor’s own currency, usually US dollars, and we note Canadian dollar pricing when the vendor publishes it. Each review ends with its sources: the official pages we used.
How updates work
Every review, comparison and best picks page has a dated “What changed” log. When we make a material change, such as a new score, new pricing, a re-test or a changed recommendation, we add an entry saying what changed.
The “Updated” date on a page moves only for material changes like these. Fixing a typo or a broken link doesn’t count, so the date always tells you when the substance last changed.
Use of AI
AI tools help us research, draft and edit, but every hands-on test, opinion and score comes from the TechKea team, and the team reviews every page before it’s published. Screenshots and images of software on TechKea are never AI-generated.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so on the page. Read our corrections policy, or email [email protected] with the page link and what’s wrong.
